Volunteer program

Renewal Retreat is a 600 acre farm high up on the Kammanassie mountains in the Klein Karro, 37Km from Uniondale.

The farm is built on sustainable land development using predominantly permaculture and Jadam Korean natural organic farming practices and electroculture.

The current volunteer program is seeking dedicated volunteers that are passionate about learning and being hands-on in sustainable living.

In this project, we are offering volunteers practical experience in the understanding and removal of alien Hakea trees, the ongoing structuring of the food forest, the making of biochar other related activities.

Who and what is Renewal Retreat

Renewal Retreat is an off the beaten track piece of heaven, boasting magnificent views, spring mountain water and off- grid living.

Accommodation varies from a delightful two bedroom cottage offering stunning views of the Langkloof valley and our own piece of the Kammanassie mountains, to a 8 bed dormitory in a lovely self-contained house, or a cosy cabin and finally if camping is your style we can offer that too.

Colleen, Michael and Marié are the folk that see to it that whether you are just visiting  to enjoy the peace and tranquility that this incredible spot has to offer, or you are participating in a lifestyle makeover, a retreat, workshop, course, or here in a volunteering capacity, your stay will be memorable in the most positive sense.

We are here to communicate with you, share our knowledge with you, give you tasty food and welcome you as part of the family.

Hours & Roster

• • We ask that you work with us for 6 hours a day, 5 days a week.
    09:00 – 12:30 and 15:00 –  17:30. We expect that you will work with us but are also able to work alone too.
  • Take the weekends off to relax, hike, or swim.

Sleeping: The accommodation for volunteers is in the dormitory in Heath House.

Linen & Laundry: Bed linen included. Laundry facilities are available on-site.

Eating: We offer 3 healthy plant-based meals each day .

Transport: The nearest airport is George. Flights to George are offered by FlySafair and SA Airlink from Johannesburg, and Airlink from Cape Town.
We are located 1h 15min drive from the George airport.

Transport to and from Renewal Retreat from George or the airport can be arranged. Enquire on the rate for this service.
